Barnstormers Sign Local Standout – OurSports Central

March 10, 2023 – Indoor Football League (IFL) – Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers have signed wide receiver Anthony Turner to the 2023 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.

Turner (6-4, 220, Grand View University) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Collegiately, Turner began his career at Iowa Western where he spent two years before transferring to Grand View University. Turner spent three years with the Vikings, tallying 1,110 yards and 15 touchdowns in his first season with the team. Turner collected numerous accolades throughout his time at Grand View including two-time All-American Honors and two-time NAIA Offensive Player of the Year.

Following his collegiate career, Turner participated in a rookie minicamp with the Green Bay Packers and earned attention from the USFL, signing with the New Jersey Generals.

“Anthony played locally at Grand View tearing up that league well enough to get an invitation to mini-camp with the Packers last spring,” said Head Coach Mogensen. “He is a big body receiver who moves like a small guy. He is someone that is on radars of higher leagues and a successful stint with us this spring should open some doors for him quickly, we are excited to add him to our receiver room for 2023.”

Turner will enter the Iowa Barnstormers 2023 Training Camp immediately.
