Breanna Stewart Earns Third Kia WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month Award

NEW YORK – The WNBA announced today that New York Liberty forward, Breanna Stewart, has been named the Kia WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for August; her third monthly honor of the season (May and July).

Through the Liberty’s 10-game August slate, Stewart led the team to a 9-1 finish while posting averages of 22.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists, a league-best 2.3 blocks, and 1.9 steals per game on a combined 45.1% from the field.

Breanna’s historic August campaign included the following milestones:

Became the first-ever player to record three 40-point games in a single season on August 13, while joining Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi asthe only players to eclipse the 40-point mark three-plus times in their careers.

Won second-career Commissioner’s Cup Championship on August 15; became the first-ever player to win multiple cups.

Broke the New York Liberty’s single-season scoring record on August 24.

Set New York Liberty franchise single-season 30-plus point games record on August 26 with her sixth such game of the season.

Broke New York Liberty franchise single-season rebounds record on August 28.

This monthly honor is Stewart’s sixth of her career, her third of the season, and the 16th all-time in Liberty history.
