That’s a wrap on the second event in the 2023 Max Adventure Race Series, held at scenic Enoggera Reservoir, Brisbane.

A humid, grey day greeted the teams which made the course more testing but the predicted heavy rain stayed away for the most part which was a blessing. There were plenty of smiles as the teams crossed the finish line, proud to have conquered the hills around the course. A truly fantastic effort by all the Classic and Novice teams, trail running, mountain biking and kayaking. We think everyone should consider themselves a winner for completing the course.

In the Premier Mixed category the winners on the day were The Muddy Sprockets (Ana Oertel & Nick Cilento), crushing the course in under 3hrs. Following them home were A Gaggle of Giess (Shaye & Michael Giess) and My GC Physio (Britt Caling & Brett Stevens).

The Lost Climbers (Lorna Montgomery & Chantel Brown) were the first Female team home, followed by Maps & Margarita’s (Victoria Leadbeatter & Fiona Kessell) in second and Nomad (Sarah Alexander & Vanessa Moran) in third.

The fastest team on the day and winners of the Male category was Rogue Adventure (Liam St Pierre & Bevan Koopman) in an incredible time off 2hrs 45mins once time credits for bonus checkpoints were taken off. Mt Pleasant Rd Brewers 2 (Gregg Dean & Clinton Watts) were second, beating home PartyBubbles (Richard Kliskey, Dave Robbins).

Congratulations to all teams who took on their first adventure race this event. We love seeing all the first timers out there every year.

A special shout out to our hard-working volunteers who lent a hand and helped make this event happen either out on course as a marshal or at the event centre and to Ironbark Venturers who were cooking up a storm on the BBQ post-event.
