FRISCO, Texas – The Frisco Fighters head coach Billy Back announced the signing of defensive lineman Mackenzie Balanganayi for the 2023 season.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pound native of Palatine, Illinois began his collegiate career in 2017 at Wisconsin-Whitewater (NCAA). In 2018, he appeared in 12 games and finished the season with 25 tackles, including 7.5 for a loss of 61 yards and four sacks for a loss of 27 yards, ranking ninth in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in sacks.
In 2019, Division III football named Balanganayi West Region Defensive Play of the Year, Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Play of the Year, first-team All-West region, first team All-WIAC and was a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award. As a Whitehawk, Balanganayi ranked ninth in the program history in career sacks (20.5), ranked second in the WIAC in sacks (0.54 per game), and led the team to the National Championships.
“Mack could be a real good one,” said Back. “I’m excited to see what he can do with his length and quickness. He can be a real problem for any guard that has to deal with him.”
The Frisco Fighters return to the field in March 2023. Squadron Memberships and single game tickets are on sale now.
