FIS Alpine World Ski Championships Saalbach 2025: 1st Coordination Group Meeting

After a long wait due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Saalbach (AUT) was at last able to stage its first in-person Coordination Group meeting for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025.

The top priority was the Technical Inspection of the slopes made together with the Saalbach 2025 Local Organising team, the FIS Alpine Technical Team and members of the Austrian Ski Federation. While Saalbach has a rich tradition of hosting FIS competitions it was still a key moment for everyone to view the courses that will be offered for the World Championships.

Also a key discussion point was the topic of the women’s courses, which will see some adaptations. Together with the Host Broadcaster ORF, course setting and camera angles were already able to be developed.

On site for the meetings was the FIS Technical team for both the men and women, led by FIS Secretary General Michel Vion. Members of the Austrian Ski Federation were also present, led by Christian Scherer, while the Saalbach 2025 team was helmed by Heinz Fuchs, the Secretary General.

Away from the slopes the Saalbach 2025 team also presented its initial vision for the World Championships, focusing on the flair of traditional Austrian hospitality and the rich tradition of Alpine Skiing in the both the region and nation.
