Kaizen Health and Wellness Becomes Barnstormers Physical Therapy Partner

September 13, 2023 – Indoor Football League (IFL) – Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers have announced a partnership agreement with Kaizen Health and Wellness that designates it as the Barnstormers Official Physical Therapy Partner for the 2024 season.

Founded in 2019 by Bryan Ladd (PT, DPT, MS, OCS), Kaizen Health and Wellness has a mission to create a positive change in the community by providing a standard of care for the athlete and active adult that is second to none and obviously different. Kaizen’s mission is to be the premier orthopedic and sports physical therapy practice in Iowa.

“The Iowa Barnstormers are excited to be partnering with the team at Kaizen Health and Wellness,” said Barnstormers General Manager Juli Pettit. “They are passionate and knowledgeable about athletes, are dedicated to patient care and improvement, and their vision and involvement in community fully aligns with ours. We know Bryan and his team are going to provide top tier care to our players.”

A graduate of Des Moines University with his Doctor of Physical Therapy, Ladd also served in the United States Navy for five years. Following his graduation from DMU, he received a commission in the Navy and served at Naval Hospital Bremerton in Bremerton, Washington and at Naval Hospital Okinawa in Okinawa Japan.

Taking inspiration from his time in Japan, Bryan Ladd named his practice Kaizen Health and Wellness with Kaizen being the Japanese word for continuous improvement. A performance physical therapy practice, Kaizen’s priority is the patient. Kaizen focuses on getting their patients back to doing what they love to do, as fast as possible, without medicine, injections, or surgery and offers a wide range of orthopedic and sports physical therapy services.

“Our vision is to be the premier orthopedic and sports physical therapy practice in Iowa, where passionate clinicians and patients can reach their full potential,” said Ladd. “We ultimately want to help build up this community and make it an even better place than it already is by providing high-quality physical therapy services to help the people of Des Moines live a long, healthy, and active life.”

After a strenuous year of injury on the field for the Barnstormers, finding a top tier physical therapy provider was the number one priority of the organization in the off-season.

“The Barnstormers are coming off of a tough year filled with many injuries,” said Ladd. “By partnering with Kaizen, the Barnstormers prehab and rehab will now be handled by Kaizen’s Doctors of Physical Therapy. This will ensure that the players will receive the most up to date evidenced based treatment methods and can rest assured, that if they have injuries they are going to get the best possible treatment available in Iowa.”

With an incredible combined resume in physical therapy and athlete care from the team at Kaizen Health and Wellness, the Iowa Barnstormers look forward to partnering with them for the season ahead.

“We can’t wait to get started with Kaizen Health and Wellness and look forward to introducing our team to their team,” said Pettit. “The entire team at Kaizen, individually, have such impressive resumes in physical therapy and are all athlete focused. This is going to be a great partnership for our players.”

In addition to Dr. Bryan Ladd, Dr. Josh Hildebrand and Dr. Logan Yager are also part of the Kaizen Team.

Hildebrand holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Northern Iowa as well as a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Des Moines University and is a Certified Sports and Orthopedic Manual Therapist. A fellow in training with the Institute for Athlete Regeneration, training in orthopedic and manual therapy, Hildebrand is in the top 2% of physical therapists.

Yager holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Des Moines University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, giving him an expertise with strength athletes of all kinds.

“We’re excited to be part of a team again and to get the opportunity to help the Barnstormers win a championship.” said Ladd.
