Osceola Magic Acquire Returning Rights to Trevelin Queen

Kissimmee, Fla. – The Osceola Magic have acquired returning rights to guard Trevelin Queen (TREV-uh-lin) from the South Bay Lakers in exchange for the returning rights to Jay Scrubb, Devontae Cacok, and Micah Potter, General Manager Kevin Tiller announced today.

Queen (6’6″, 190, 2/25/97) played in seven NBA games last season (2022-23) with Indiana, averaging 3.0 ppg. and 2.4 rpg. in 10.0 minpg. He also appeared in 24 games (15 starts) with the Fort Wayne (now Indiana) Mad Ants of the NBA G League, averaging 22.6 ppg., 6.5 rpg., 4.5 apg. and 2.13 stlpg. in 34.3 minpg.

Not drafted by an NBA franchise, Queen has played in 17 career NBA regular season games with Houston and Indiana, averaging 3.8 ppg. and 1.9 rpg. in 8.5 minpg. He has also played in 58 career NBA G League regular season games (40 starts) with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Fort Wayne (now Indiana) Mad Ants, averaging 20.2 ppg., 5.5 rpg., 3.9 apg. and 2.24 stlpg. in 30.8 minpg. During the 2021-22 season, Queen was named NBA G League Most Valuable Player and led Rio Grande Valley to the 2022 NBA G League championship, also earning NBA G League Finals MVP honors.

Queen played in 51 career games during two seasons (2018-20) at New Mexico State, averaging 10.5 ppg., 4.1 rpg., 2.1 apg. and 1.37 stlpg. in 21.5 minpg. He was named WAC Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2019, and earned Second Team All-WAC honors in 2019-20.

Scrubb (6’5″, 220, 9/1/00) played in two NBA games during the 2022-23 season with Orlando, averaging 6.5 ppg., 3.0 rpg. and 1.00 stlpg. in 15.1 minpg. He was signed to a two-way contract by Orlando on Mar. 24. Scrubb also appeared in 27 games (25 starts) with the Lakeland (now Osceola) Magic of the NBA G League, averaging 22.3 ppg., 5.9 rpg. and 2.3 apg. in 31.1 minpg. He led the team and ranked sixth in the NBA G League in scoring.

Originally selected in the second round (55th overall) of the 2020 NBA Draft by Brooklyn, Scrubb appeared in 24 career NBA games (one start) with the L.A. Clippers and Orlando, averaging 4.0 ppg. and 1.5 rpg. in 9.8 minpg. He also played in 29 career NBA G League games (27 starts) with the Agua Caliente (now Ontario) Clippers and the Lakeland (now Osceola) Magic, averaging 22.4 ppg., 5.6 rpg. and 2.3 apg. in 30.8 minpg.

Cacok (6’8″, 240, 10/8/96) played in 28 games (28 starts) last season with the Motor City Cruise, averaging 18.5 ppg., 9.6 rpg. and 1.5 apg. in 29.6 minpg., while shooting .610 from the field. Cacok has played in 36 career NBA regular season games (one start) with the L.A. Lakers and San Antonio, averaging 2.5 ppg. and 2.2 rpg. in 6.3 minpg.

Potter (6’8″, 248, 4/6/98) has appeared in 10 career NBA games across two seasons with Utah Jazz (2022-23) and Detroit (2021-22), averaging 3.6 ppg. and 2.5 apg. in 8.3 minpg. The former Wisconsin Badger has appeared in 50 career G League games (48 starts) over two seasons with the Salt Lake City Stars (2022-23) and Sioux Falls Skyforce (2021-22), where he averaged 16.3 ppg., 9.7 rpg., and 1.9 apg. in 29.6 minpg.
